My name is Magda Betkowska. I was born in Poland and studied artistic education in Fine Arts, Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Institute of Art Education at the Silesian University in Poland. After graduation, I worked in non-governmental organizations in the field of art and international education in Poland and in Germany. Since moving to Switzerland in 2011, my career path took a turn, I left my passion for art and I started immersing myself in the corporate world working as an accountant. Whilst working in Switzerland, I took the decision to further my education in Art Therapy in Konstanz, Germany and completed this study in 2018. This decision to further enhance my education made a huge impact on what happened later in my life, I started to paint my "woman’s world” as a therapy to overcome my own complexes and begin my path towards self-acceptance. Returning to my art passion allowed me to rediscover what gives me happiness and satisfaction and understand that I do not need to conform to the lifestyle imposed by media nor meet society`s expectations in order to feel happy and fulfilled. When the corona pandemic hit, the isolation allowed me the time and space to face my internal struggles, and through it I gained the courage to step out of my shell and participate in various art competitions and projects. It made me realize that it is never too late to make any dream come true. The most important thing is to just believe in yourself and in what you are doing and keep doing it. Therefore, each of my painting conveys the message that each person is special/unique and has a talent. It also encourages us to discover our hidden talents regardless of age.
